Joseph L. Soto Worked long and hard for  a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Economics from Marshall University and a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was named the Executive Director at Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall in July of 2015.

Retirement Facility Volunteer

This individual would have a history of either having worked or is currently working as a volunteer at a retirement community. It may also be someone who works through a hospital for the elderly that come through. It would give the perspective of someone who works closely with those that are elderly but from an outside perspective.

Documentary Concept Research

From the initial research, the primary idea was to find a location locally in order to make our concept happen. What I learned from my group was that the target location was Carolina Bay at Autumn Hall. It is regarded as a "retirement community designed especially for active residents who want to live their life to the fullest, and on their own terms" making it feel less like a facility and more like a home for those that choose to live there. Beyond that again is the idea that the facility is relatively close to the UNCW campus so it makes it a logical choice in order to make the overall documentary concept a reality. Based on what I found on the website it seems like a good example of what we were looking for. There seems to be a good population of people to choose from, although we do want to find out if we have any connections to the community to help with our research. Outside of that we will hopefully find a second or third location if the first fails to be a successful source. Our next step overall is to find willing participants to use as interviewees so that we can make the next step of pre-production.
